FAQs
When and where is Shark Tank?
7 PM on Thursday, November 17th, 2022 at Rediger Chapel in the Larita Boren Student Center.

What is the first thing I need to do to be involved in Shark Tank?
Fill out the interest form by November 3! To get there, click here. After that, we will reach out to find a time for you to meet with the Director of Promising Ventures and our entrepreneur in residence, Andrew Fennig.

What will these meetings entail?
You will have the opportunity to share your venture with Andrew more in-depth. He'll ask some questions and start helping you develop your pitch deck and executive summary for your final submission. You'll meet with Andrew at least once but are welcome to meet with him more to refine your venture before your final application.

Who is Andrew Fennig, and why would I want to meet with him?
Andrew is the Director of Promising Ventures. He graduated from Taylor in 2002 with an International Business degree and Political Science minor. He has since worked in business development and project management, and he's also gotten his MBA in Entrepreneurship from Oxford in 2010. With his education background and work experience, Andrew has been able to consult students on pursuing their ventures for some time and now does it as part of his role here at Taylor.

When do I need to submit the interest form?
The interest form is due on November 3rd.

What is the final submission, and when is it due?
In order to participate in the Shark Tank event, you need to submit your actual pitch. This is your final submission. It includes your pitch deck and executive summary. After the due date, we will look at everyone's submissions and let you know if you've been selected to pitch to the investors on the event day. This is due on November 5th by midnight.

What even is a pitch deck or executive summary?
A pitch deck is a presentation (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.) that you would use if you were to pitch your idea to the investors. It includes things about the background of your business and more details. Refer to our Templates page for examples.

An executive summary is similar except in a format like Microsoft Word. It includes the details of your venture like product description, competitive advantage, funding, and more. (Don't worry if you don't know how to come up with those. We will help you get there!) Refer to our Templates page for examples.

What happens if I win Shark Tank?
You will get up to $5,000 to put towards your business venture!
